Biggest Free Wi-Fi Network Emerges in NYC’s Chelsea Neighborhood
In an effort to expand into a bigger role as an Internet Service Provider, Google is giving free public Wi-Fi to an entire Manhattan neighborhood. For those of you that do not know, Chelsea is the location of Google’s New York headquarters, which allowed the company to offer up this free service for residents. The secured network will also be used by businesses and students in the area, and it will cover the outdoor areas also. Jordan Newman, a Google spokesman, said that the new Wi-Fi network is Google’s way of “giving back to the community that we’ve been in for the past six years or so.” (via Mashable)
Student Suspended For “Questionable” Facebook Use
In Vietnam, an eighth grade student was suspended for an entire school year after posting a parody of a speech by revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh on her Facebook page. Vietnam, whose digital media is government regulated, found the post offensive, insulting and disrespectful after she used language from Minh’s speech to make a joke about never having to take exams again. Keep in mind, Vietnam’s Communist government does not allow freedom of speech. (via Huffington Post)

In Las Vegas, this year’s Consumer Electronics Show/Convention is giving you and up-close look at this year’s hottest new gadgets. Some of the notable items are LG’s razor-thin OLED TVs, that gives you the best picture money can buy (It’s about 5 times the price of current top-of-the-line TVs). Another one of the items are cars with built-in co-pilots. Cars tricked out with HD cameras, GPS’s and collision-avoidance systems are the new frontier for safe “luxury” driving. And finally, the CES gives you a look at a waterproof Android phone that you can submerge in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes at a time! (via Yahoo! News)
