Headlines

– Fresh off of their 90 – 63 win over #1 Duke, the Miami Hurricanes basketball team are now ranked 14th in the country and currently lead the ACC with a 6-0 record. (via State Of The U)

– The Miami Heat failed to beat the Boston Celtics on the road, even after forcing the game into double overtime. However, the impressive home win is bittersweet due to the fact that the Celtics lost their all-star PG Rajon Rondo for the rest of the season with a torn ACL. (via ESPN)

– In other Heat news, during the game on Friday night against the Detroit Pistons, a Miami man hit a half-court hook shot to win $75,000 dollars. An even bigger surprise for the man was that after he hit the shot, Heat star Lebron James tackled him and celebrated with the lucky fan. (via LA Times)

– A busy week for the Heat, today the team was in Washington D.C. meeting with President Obama for their 2012 NBA Championship visit. (via Miami Herald)

– The NFL’s annual Pro Bowl took place this weekend in Hawaii. The NFC dominated the AFC 62-35. Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph was named the MVP. (via ESPN)

– After upsetting top seed Serena Williams, Coral Springs native 19 year old Sloane Stephens lost to defending champ Victoria Azarenka in the final of the Australian Open this weekend after a controversial injury timeout. (via Business Insider)

– In hockey news, the Florida Panthers have lost 4 straight games bringing their record to an Eastern Conference worst 1-4. They have been outscored 18-3 since winning their opening game 5-1. (via The Hockey Writers)
