Headlines

– Don’t look now but the defending champion Miami Heat have won 11 games in a row. (via Miami Herald)

– In other Heat news, Lebron James was named the Eastern Conference player of the week for the fourth time this season. (via NBA.com)

– The Miami Marlins opened up their Spring Training schedule on Saturday with an 8 to 3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. (via Marlins.com)

– Due to the off-season “fire sale” of the Miami Marlins, team owner Jeffrey Loria broke his silence by placing an open letter in South Florida newspapers explaining his actions. (via Yahoo! Sports)

– The under achievements of the Florida Panthers continue in this lockout shortened season. After Sunday’s 4 to 1 loss to the Boston Bruins, the Panthers are now tied for last place with only 5 wins in 18 games. (via On Frozen Pond)

– In sad news, the Miami Hurricanes basketball team lost its first game of 2013, after previously winning 14 games in a row. They dropped from #2 to #5 in the rankings after losing 80 to 65 to Wake Forest on Saturday. (via ESPN)
