Please Don’t Text And Drive
Working in an insurance office, we’ve had client’s come in after being in an accident caused simply because someone was texting while driving. These are accidents that didn’t have to happen, but now the “texter” is looking at the potential for increased car insurance rates or possibly worse. One would hope that this would be enough to change their texting habits, but nonetheless, there are still people texting and driving around town every single day.
NTSB estimates that 25% of all vehicle mishaps involve the use of a cell phone. The single act of glancing down to read a text takes 5 seconds, during which your car can travel the entire length of a football field. This is essentially driving blind.
What is it about human nature that lulls us into a false sense that it can only happen to others? Please don’t text and drive. Driving is a privilege afforded to us by the state, it is not a right and we need to treat it as such. If you absolutely need send or read a text…find a place to pull over safely and stop your car, or at least do it at a red light. We shouldn’t be the only ones that believe your life is important. Respect your life and safety as well as those around you.
