Fun Friday: “Anchorman 2” Has Impressive Cameo List

Category: Blog

The long-awaited sequel to “Anchorman,” Will Ferrell’s 2004 hit about an egocentric television news anchor in San Diego in the 1970s, has been shooting in Atlanta since March, and a dizzying array of talent has been stopping by to play bit parts in the film. But the latest celeb to be spotted on the set is eyebrow raising even for this project.

A news source in Atlanta reports Kanye West was on the “Anchorman 2” set in the city’s Woodruff Park this week, taking part in a fight scene in the picture. Kanye was also seen around town with his significant other Kim Kardashian, but no one is certain if she took her place in front of the cameras, and West was still in Atlanta when Kardashian hopped a flight back to Los Angeles Wednesday.

While the press have been closely monitoring the comings and goings on the set, no one seems certain just what Ron Burgundy and his cohorts are up to in the sequel, so it’s anyone’s guess who Kanye is playing in the picture. Given the early-70s setting of the first movie, it’s highly unlikely West will portray a hip-hop artist like himself, but however he fits in to the puzzle, it should be interesting to see what his chops as a comedian are like.

In addition to reuniting the starring cast of the original “Anchorman” – Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and David Koechner – plenty of top-shelf talent has been travelling to Atlanta to film cameos for “Anchorman 2.” So far, Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, and James Marsden are all playing supporting roles in the movie, and photos show Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were on set and in costume earlier this week. Other A-listers who are said to have shot cameos for “Anchorman 2” include Nicole Kidman, Jim Carrey, Will Smith, Liam Neeson, John C. Reilly, and Jane Lynch. Now that’s classy.

“Anchorman: The Legend Continues” is scheduled to arrive in theaters December 20, 2013.
