BBIMI Giving Back: Hands Hope Humanity
If you’re a frequent visitor of our blog, you have probably realized we thoroughly enjoy giving back to the community. More importantly, one of our employees Steffany Shafer has been giving back to the community in a very unique way. Steffany is part of the Hands Hope Humanity, a non-profit organization which specializes in raising money (via fundraising) and helping build up the communities of various South American countries. Made up of 15 volunteers, Hands Hope Humanity has been in business for 4 years and they’ve donated about $20,000 for the countries of South America.
In addition to all the phenomenal work Hands Hope Humanity has done for the continent of South America, BB Insurance Marketing has made a very generous donation to the organization to assist with the materials for building houses.
Here is a first-person account from our very own Steffany Shafer of how Hands Hope Humanity helped build a house this past weekend in Honduras:
Everyone has been asking about my trip so I figured I’d share with you what we did. I attached a before photo showing you the home they lived in before, a photo during the construction, and one after (All photos are posted below). The original home was only 2 rooms, a kitchen and a bedroom. They now have 3 rooms, 2 bedrooms and a living room. They will still use the old house as the kitchen and a chicken coop. They made all the bricks themselves out of adobe and the roof is made of zinc which lasts longer than tin. They would carry 50lb bags of concrete, on their backs, down the mountain to get it closer to the house so they can mix it with sand. I made the window and helped bring sand down the mountain.
