Slow “Fast Lane” Drivers will be Fined, says FHP
If you listen closely, you can now hear the sound of all “fast lane” or “safely in a hurry” drivers rejoicing! If you’re wondering why they are rejoicing, it’s because the Florida Highway Patrol is starting to crack down on motorists who drive too slow in the left lane. A warning is now going up on highway billboards to notify drivers to move over a lane if they want to drive slower than the speed of traffic, according to WPTV.
While we here at BB Insurance Marketing always condone safe driving, we can all admit that there’s nothing more aggravating than someone going way under the speed limit in the left or “fast” lane. We also want to say that drivers are more than welcome to drive at whatever speed they like, but if they plan on driving under the speed limit, they should stay away from the left lane.
Sgt. Mark Wysocky said to WPTV that while speeders are more obvious on the road, slow drivers can cause road rage and safety hazards. Wysocky also said that a majority of slow left lane drivers are usually distracted or on cellphones. Now if drivers are pulled over for going too slow in a passing lane they could face a fine of more than $160.
