  2. Technology Tuesday: What Do You Think Of The New iWatch?

    A recent series of trademark filings on the term iWatch lends more credence than ever to rumors that Apple AAPL +3.22% is working hard on delivering a wrist-wearable companion to its popular iPhone, perhaps sometime before the end of the year. Apple Insider reports the filings cover everywhere from Taiwan to Turkey, as well as Japan, Russia and Mexico. This news follows on rumors that Google GOOG +0.85% is developing its own smart watch to counter Apple. And to top it off, the Pebble, which really brought the category to people’s attention after a hugely successful Kickstarter campain, might be headed for Best Buy as soon as this weekend. Suddenly, the moribund watch category is the hottest category around. Or is it?

  3. Sports Update Monday: Panthers Draft Finnish Phenom Barkov With 2nd Overall Pick

    The Panthers had a chance to continue to improve their defensive stock with the second pick in the 2013 NHL Draft but instead looked to fill a more pressing need. Despite having top-ranked prospect Seth Jones waiting for them, the Panthers picked Finnish center Aleksander “Sasha” Barkov on Sunday afternoon. Barkov, born in Finland to Russian parents, becomes the second-highest draft pick in Panthers history. Florida selected Ed Jovanovski with the top pick in 1994.     Even though consumers value the privacy of their personal information and data, they’re willing to sacrifice that privacy for a reward. New research has found that 45 percent of consumers are willing to share data collected about them online if it means advertisements would be better tailored to their preferences. However, consumers also expect to receive something in exchange for providing personal info. Namely, 59 percent of consumers said that if they pass along their personal data, they’d be more willing to buy products and services from brands that offer discounts and rewards.   8. Survey Shows Nonprofit Organizations Are Unprepared & Under-Insured

    Crystal & Co., a worldwide risk and insurance advisor, has released the results of its Nonprofit Risk Survey, presenting a snapshot of risk awareness and exposure among U.S. nonprofit organizations, including human services, foundations, and community service, educational and religious organizations. Among its key findings, Crystal & Co.’s study revealed that 22 percent of nonprofit organizations surveyed have a dedicated risk manager. For the majority of organizations surveyed, responsibility for corporate risk and insurance was handled by the organization’s finance team, or by the organization’s human resources, operations, or legal departments.
